Emma - Director, Tutor, and Creator
Having taught for 12 years, and tutored for 10, Emma has now set up a new branch of Engenius Tuition Ltd, called Engenius Academy. The purpose of the academy is to bring to life digital education resources, with the 11+ Digital Pack being our first offering.
Our Story Starts in early 2013
After qualifying as an outstanding Secondary English Teacher in 2013, Emma started providing private tuition in her spare time, in English, Maths, and entrance exams, such as the 11+, before setting up Engenius Tuition four years later, in 2017.
Since this time, many children have benefitted from Emma’s tutoring, but it was clear from the outset that it wouldn’t be an option for all, due to the costs involved.
The 11+ exam is very much an exam that requires tuition – the subjects taught in school (English and Maths), are more difficult in the exam. The subjects not taught in school (Verbal Reasoning and Non-verbal Reasoning) require techniques that children don’t learn day-to-day.
In our experience, those able to commit to private 11+ tuition go into their 11+ exam feeling prepared – and confident as a result. Those who haven’t been able to access private tuition, for whatever reason, often feel like a pass is unachievable. This is where the 11+ Digital Pack comes in.
Emma says, “Having a digital resource for the 11+ has been a plan of mine for such a long time, but with the amount of hours I needed to invest in creating it, it’s taken time. Tutoring for the 11+ exam, for the past 10 years, has allowed me to gain such an insight into not only the exam itself, but the question types that children most commonly find difficult, and the ways in which the exam questions catch children out.
“Using my 11+ knowledge, I’ve created the 11+ Digital Pack, which is a fully comprehensive programme of study for the 11+. The interactivity of the 11+ Digital Pack makes it possible for children – regardless of whether or not they have/have had tuition – to prepare for the 11+ exam. Engenius Academy is all about education for all, and we are extremely proud of our first product, which provides exactly that.”
